Wallows and Piglets

Old teats, new piggies.
Mary Jane's piglets contemplate a snack from their mother's friend, Barbara (who is not currently lactating).

Big mama, little piggies.
Mary Jane and some of her babies.

We try hard to keep our fields from being over-worked and muddy. Occasionally, when is it very, very hot, we will make the pigs a wallow (a mud hole to cool down in). In this picture Mary Jane made her own wallow after a rainstorm. It sure looks luxurious.

Before she wallowed Mary Jane made a little spot for her babies to stay dry on a nearby hill. She had them all nice and clean later in the afternoon. Good mama pig!
